NNG (Nearly New Golf) Named Ontario PGA Pro / Pro Title Sponsor

(Pickering, Ont. March 10, 2009) - The Ontario PGA is pleased to announce that Nearly New Golf, lead by a new management team consisting of Paul Cherrie and Davis Yoo, will assume the title sponsorship of the Ontario PGA Pro / Pro Championship. The “NNG”  Pro / Pro Championship will once again return to The Club at North Halton where it has been played off and on for well over 20 years. NNG with its Bamboomer Golf Tees brand will also continue to sponsor the Bamboomer Long Drive Championship held in conjunction with the Fall Scramble.

“The Pro / Pro is one of our most prestigious events,” stated Ontario PGA President Chris Miranda. “Paul and Davis have demonstrated that they are committed to building their green grass network while supporting Canadian PGA Professionals’ in Ontario and the Ontario PGA.”

In late 2008 Nearly New Golf was purchased by Paul Cherrie and Davis Yoo from long time owners Larry and Michael McAuley. Michael who died in 2008 left a lasting legacy at Nearly New Golf, which consisted of strong customer service, personal relationships and a commitment to enhancing the Canadian golf industry. Both Cherrie and Yoo, along with Ms. Susan Eccles and the rest of the NNG team, will continue to build on McCauley’s legacy while developing their own.

“Strengthening our partnership with the Ontario PGA and its members is an important step in achieving our goals of increasing our contribution and involvement in the Canadian golf industry” said Davis Yoo, Vice President and General Manager of NNG.  “We look forward to continuing to build a long lasting and mutually beneficial relationship by participating in events like the NNG Pro / Pro Championship and the “Bamboomer” Long Drive competition in the fall.”

Much like the Masters is for PGA TOUR players the NNG Pro / Pro Championship is also considered the unofficial start of the Ontario PGA Tournament season. On May 11, 2009 120 Head Professionals, Executive Professionals and Head Teaching Professionals will battle it out for the right to etch their names beside great names in Canadian golf such as Moe Norman, Bob Panasik, Gar Hamilton, Ken Tarling, Ben Kern, John Irwin and Bobby Breen.
