Beginning about 1915, the Canadian beer baron John Labatt and family built a summer residence including a 6-hole golf course on the shores of Lake Huron. Over the next 60 years and through a variety of owners, the facility grew until it became a full 18 holes. In 1975, the Polysar Employees Recreational Club acquired ownership added a new clubhouse/recreation center and renamed it Huron Oaks. Very shortly after one of Canada’s finest touring professionals, Mike Weir joined the club as a young golfer and spent most of his junior career playing and practicing at the course. In 2003, weir won the Masters Championship at Augusta National Golf Club.
2003 saw new owners purchase the golf course and embarked on a major redesign that saw several new holes built and an 80-unit residential development. In 2009, a new Pro shop was built overlooking #1 tee. The future looks very is very bright for Huron Oaks.as plans include a new 9-hole executive course and another residential development of an additional 60 homes.
Huron Oaks is located in a great community set in an urban setting with numerous housing options within a few yards of the golf course plus beautiful clean beaches within walking distance of the club. The City of Sarnia is also only a few kilometers. Our facility also has a full driving range with a member’s tee-deck and a teaching deck. We also operate an indoor golf center during the winter months. The indoor center has two About Golf Simulators and nine hitting stations with over forty feet of ball flight.
