SUPPLEMENTAL NOTICE TO PLAYERS - Scorecard Returned
Item 16a Scorecard Returned, on the 2025 PGA of Canada Local Rules and Terms of Competition document (hard card) has changed from previous years. This change allows additional time for a player to return to the scoring area to correct an error on the scorecard. The following term of the competition ‘Scorecard Returned’ is now in effect:
Scorecard Returned: Under Rule 3.3b, a player must promptly proceed to the scoring area once their round is completed. The player’s scorecard is considered returned to the Committee 15 minutes after the player’s score is verified in the electronic scoring system.
After each player and marker signs their scorecards, the scoring officials will verify the player’s scores into the electronic scoring system on Golf Genius. The scoring official will read out the front 9, back 9, and total score for each player immediately after verifying the score in the electronic scoring system. Once the scoring official verifies and reads out the player’s score, the 15-minute period begins.
This policy will allow a player to visit the tournament office, scoring tent, or contact the PGA of Ontario Staff conducting score by phone, as an additional option to correct a scorecard mistake within the 15-minute time period.
Exception 1: If a player is in the tournament office when the 15-minute time limit expires, the player’s scorecard is considered returned when the player leaves the tournament office.
Exception 2: A player’s scorecard is considered returned if any of the following four events occur, even if it occurs before the 15-minute time limit has expired or the player is still in the scoring area:
- Starting times have been released after a cut has been made.
- The player begins their next round.
- Any player has made a stroke to begin a play-off.
- The competition has closed.
Note: When applying the Exception to Rule 3.3b(3) or under any Rule where a player must correct a mistake before returning their scorecard (such as Rule 14.7b), the player’s scorecard is considered returned when the player has left the scoring area.
