Michael Schurman

Born: July 21st, 1946 in Richmond Hill, Ontario

Served  PGA of Ontario Board of Directors a total of 14 years (President 1986 & 87) and the PGA of Canada Board of Directors a total of 16 years. Became the youngest Master Professional in Canada in 1986, Club Professional of the Year (Ontario1994), Life Membership (2003) and a 50-year service award in 2019.

Member of Founding Committee to establish OGA Golf Camps, member of Founding Committee to develop the first PGM courses taught (in Canada) at Humber College and became the first instructor/professor, Founder and Manager of the PGA of Ontario Reunion Match Play Championship, Founder and Editor of the reunion Review e-newsletter, Chair of the Founding Committee to establish the PGA of Ontario Hall of Fame.

He was recognized for his work in introducing over 5000 new golfers into the game through various initiatives including mentoring over 30 PGA of Canada members. Founded and taught the Ontario Blind Golfers Association and initiated the first Blind Golfers Pro Am in Canada.

  • Longest Day of Golf- played 270 holes (15 rounds) for Cancer Research
  • Served on the Timmy/Tammy Easter Seals Fund Raising Committee with Al Balding & Bobby Orr.
