- Job Summary
- Reporting to the Director of Golf, the Head Golf Professional is responsible for overseeing and managing the performance of Golf Shop and golf service operations, and ultimately be responsible for performance standards and Member/Guest satisfaction within the department. This position will promote an exceptional “golf experience”, will also be responsible for growing tournament and group rounds, create member events, teach lessons, drive retail sales and profitability, and work cooperatively with all other departments of the resort.
- Responsibilities

- Oversee and manage all aspects of the Golf Shop retail business, including purchasing and merchandising.
- Maintain the golf cart fleet and marketing materials on each cart.
- Ensure the safekeeping of all assets of the club and resort, including inventory and resources.
- Track and verify all players and guests, golf carts, handicap fees and other charges deemed necessary are properly accounted for.
- Forecast and communicate daily play and tournament rounds to F&B to ensure staffing levels are proper for tee times booked.
- Coordinate tournament sales with department managers for all lodging, and food and beverage catering needs for all golf tournaments/groups.
- Recruit, hire, train and motivate Golf Shop and golfer services staff
- Accountable for the implementation of the seasonal golf operations budget in coordination with Director of Golf, management of costs, and review of monthly results.
- Organize and oversee annual golf event fixtures and programs including participation in the internal marketing and administration of the events and programs
- Participate in cross promotion and marketing of all Resort events
- Ability to implement, enforce and maintain all policies, programs and plans as established and communicated through the General Manager and Director of Golf.
- Ability to market, schedule and manage any external competitions and events
- Provide support for prospective member sales, new member integration and membership retention programs
- Maintain and promote a well-respected and professional image within the Club, the industry and community
- Ensure that accounting functions and golf control practices are in place and operating to meet company standards.
- Maintain positive member/guest relations at all times.
- Resolve member/guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Establish teaching program at the Club and teach golf within the guidelines of this program as time permits.
- Proficient instructor well versed in the latest club fitting and teaching technologies
- Attend all staff/management meetings as required. Works closely with the entire staff at the Resort to ensure the Members and Guests are receiving an exceptional experience at all times.
- Qualifications
-
- Class “A” member of the PGA of Canada in good standing with Head Professional experience preferred
- Minimum of 3 years as a Golf Professional
- Experience in managing tee sheets and inventory systems is an asset
- Experience with Golf Genius software
- Proficient instructor well versed in the latest club fitting and teaching technologies
- Proven leadership, management and organizational skills
- Excellent written and oral communication
