The Summit Golf Club (SGC), one of Canada’s premier private golf clubs. Founded in 1912, the Stanley Thompson design like so many of his other creations, uses its natural surroundings to enhance the golfing experience. Job Summary
Summit is seeking a qualified and dynamic Head Golf Professional to oversee the management and performance of all golf operations and related service offerings to ensure a best-in-class golf experience commensurate with a top tier private golf club. The Head Professional will report directly to the General Manager.
Responsibilities

The Head Professional will ensure delivery of a consistently exceptional golf experience to Summit members and their guests. The Head Professional will be responsible for the overall performance and service standards of golf operations including the following:

  • Recruitment and leadership of all golf operations personnel.
  • Develop and implement training manuals and service standards to ensure a consistently exceptional golf experience.
  • In conjunction with General Manager and Chief Financial Officer, prepare annual budgets (operating and capital) for the golf operation. This includes forecasting and monitoring to ensure fiscal performance.
  • Management of the golf reservation system, tracking of pace of play, enforcement of all rules and regulations related to club usage.
  • In conjunction with the General Manager, oversite of the purchasing, merchandising, marketing, inventory management and financial performance of the pro shop retail operations.
  • Effective planning and successful execution of all golf events to deliver an experience commensurate with a top tier private club.
  • Work with the General Manager and Head Teaching Professional to compliment Summit’s instruction and player development programs.
  • Attend all necessary management and member committee meetings.
  • Work with the Membership Liaison to create and execute successful new member on boarding programs.
  • Play with all members as time permits.
  • Represent Summit Golf Club by maintaining a respected and professional image within the Club, the industry and community.
  • Work with the Turf Superintendent and his team on all golf activities.
  • Maintain effective and prompt communication with members and staff.
Qualifications
  • Class "A" member in good standing with the PGA of Canada.
  • Current Head Professional or Director of Golf.
  • 1st Associate Professionals at recognized private clubs with verifiable records of achievement will be considered.
  • A post secondary school degree or college diploma is preferred.
  • A passion and enthusiasm for the golf industry.
  • A proven leader that can demonstrate skills that engage and inspire staff to provide exceptional member service.
  • A thorough understanding of best-in-class golf experiences for members and guests.
  • A desire to be highly visible to the membership and staff.
  • Proven experience in fiscal management (including budget development) and strategic planning.
  • Strong command of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Jonas Point of Sale, Jonas Tee Sheet software and all Microsoft applications.
  • Able to effectively solve problems and handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • A fundamental knowledge and understanding of the game including rules, tournament planning and execution, teaching and overall golf operations.
  • An understanding and commitment to the in-season time demands related to this position.
  • A track record of a high level of professionalism, appearance, manner and attitude.
  • Maintain a credible game and remain current on teaching qualifications.
