D'Alfonso and Resciniti repeat as Champions in the Chapter Four-ball Match Play

The 2022 Chapter Four-Ball Semi-Finals were held at Maple Downs Golf and Country Club on Tuesday, September 20th and Wednesday, September 21st, hosting teams from four Chapters in our Association (North, East, South and West).

We had beautiful weather conditions at the course despite a foggy start to the day on Wednesday for the finals. Defending Champions Joseph D'Alfonso and Michael Resciniti (The Academy at Copper Creek) were looking to repeat going head to head vs. Michael Moniz and Brad Kerfoot (Maple Downs Golf and Country Club).

The dynamic duo from Copper Creek once again captured the title winning the match 2 & 1.

JUMPING OUT OF THE GATES

A quick start proved the difference after an eagle on 5 by D’Alfonso.  The duo went 1-up and never looked back, jumping to a 4-shot lead before slowing down a run by Moniz and Kerfoot.

“It was a true ham and egg effort”, said Resciniti. “When one partner was down the other one was there and from that point on, it was about maintaining control of our game.”

He added. "It helps that we played here a couple times before the event, so there is a bit of a comfort level on the course and understanding of it's layout."

D’Alfonso agreed.  “We're both highly competitive and we hate losing so we play well together”, said the gleaming Champ.

Resciniti emphatically resonated with that comment.   “The confidence that we have in each other’s abilities makes us a tough team to beat and we’ve shown that the past couple of years here”.

The duo graciously thanked the facility and Head Professional/PGA of Ontario President Michael Moniz for hosting.

“Mike really does a great job and makes it comfortable for all of us” said D’Alfonso. “This feels like our second home, the golf course is always perfect and the greens are always really good”.

In the consolation match, the duo of G.W. King and Greg Colekessian defeated Dave Schweyer and Scott Loosley 3 & 2. “It was great company, good pins, we got beat up by the hosts yesterday so it was a little education at the same time”, said Colekessian with a smile.

“We made way more putts than we did yesterday, playing for third place we weren’t as tight as playing for first”, said King.
