Free Golf Ontario Webinars For PGA Members

PGA of Ontario Professional,

Golf Ontario will be providing free webinars for PGA of Ontario members looking to refresh their Rules of Golf knowledge and/or attend a condensed version of the World Handicap System changes workshop.

Webinars are FREE to join and will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Spots are limited in order to promote thorough understanding and allow for questions from our members to the Golf Ontario facilitators.

Recordings will be posted to the COVID-19 Member Resource Hub and the PGA Community Connection page for those that are unable to attend the live sessions.

Rules of Golf Webinars

As part of Golf Ontario’s commitment to Rules of Golf education for its member clubs and golfers across the province, their team have created webinars specifically for our PGA members.

Instructed by a nationally certified Golf Canada Rules Referee, the 2020 PGA of Ontario Rules Webinars will review some of the basic Rules of Golf and procedures that all golfers should be familiar with. This will also include an in-depth look at best practices for conducting club events (including course setup) facilitated by John Lawrence.

Instructors

• Anne Edgar Dodds-Hebron (National Rules Referee with over 25 years of officiating experience at all levels of both professional and amateur competitions)
• John Lawrence (Golf Ontario Manager of Rules & Competition with over 15 years of tournament administration)

Recommended Prerequisite

In advance of this webinar, participants are encouraged to complete the free Level 1 Rules of Golf Program available online through R&A Rules Academy.

World Handicap System Changes Webinars

This year marks the launch of the new World Handicap System which will be implemented in countries all over the world. The World Handicap System aims to bring the game of golf under a single set of handicapping rules and provide a more consistent measure of players’ ability between different regions of the world.



Some key features being introduced:

• Net double bogey (formerly known as max score)
• Playing Condition Calculation (how weather is attributed to daily input of scores)
• Safeguards to limit a rapid increase in one’s handicap index
