Parting Message from our Past President

Markham, ON - To subsequent our previous announcement regarding the appointment of Simon Bevan as President of the Association, Curtis Pitre would like to say a few words to the Membership as Past President.

"Be a yardstick of quality, some people aren't used to an environment where excellence is expected". These are the words of the infamous Steve Jobs.

Pitre begins, "As I make my exit as President of the Ontario zone Board of Directors, this quote from the late Steve Jobs could not ring truer for me. I've been remarkably fortunate throughout my career to be surrounded by influential, caring individuals that have instilled in me the practice of expecting excellence in all that I do. This sentiment did not change when I decided to join the Ontario zone Board of Directors.

Over the past six years my experience on the Board has been a true honor and a distinct privilege. When I started in 2013, I was unclear about what my impact would be on the organization other than sharing the standard practices that have become deep-rooted in me. As I reflect on my time served, what has become tremendously clear is that the impact of giving back is not only self-fulfilling, but more importantly a requirement and a duty in order to nurture and preserve what our predecessors have laid out before us. I highly encourage all PGA members to lead and not follow, and to consider finding a way to give back to our Association. Follow instructions and advice along the way and be collaborative, but strive to make a difference. Opportunity finds you when you go looking for it.

I would personally like to thank my current and past Board members over the years for giving me the confidence and courage that was demanded in order to take on this important role. I would also like to express my gratitude and appreciation to the entire office team for their ongoing hard work and dedication to their roles. Without their motivation to succeed, our Association and the privileges that we are afforded do not exist."

Pitre concludes by welcoming our new President, Mr. Simon Bevan, to the role. "Simon is the consummate professional in every sense of the word, and I know under his leadership the Association will be in a better place in the future than it is today."

Once again, on behalf of the Ontario zone, we welcome Mr. Bevan to his new appointment and look forward with support and optimism that his tenure will bring much success for our members, and all those that we are able to impact under his direction.
