About
I was born and raised in the small town of Roland, Manitoba and learned to play golf at the local 9 hole course. My entire family started the game at the same time and the local junior program was taught by the senior league golfers on a weekly basis throughout the season.
In the summer of 1993, I got a job in the back shop cleaning clubs and washing power carts at the Carman Golf Club. I went on to spend 7 seasons there, working my way up into a full time pro shop position and assisting in the kitchen during tournaments & events. In the winter months from 1997 to 1999, I attended Grant MacEwan Community College, obtaining my Diplomas in Golf Operations Management and Professional Golf Management.
In the spring of 2000, after completing my schooling, I joined the staff at the Pine Ridge Golf Club. Over 7 seasons, I passed my playing ability test and worked my way up the ranks to Associate Professional, learning from Head Professional Gord Workum and several assistant pros that also formed the professional team.
In February of 2007, I made the move to Minnedosa, Manitoba, becoming the General Manager & Head Professional at the Minnedosa Golf & Country Club. The beautiful 18 hole valley layout was home for 11 seasons before moving on to the same position with the Portage Golf Club in 2017. I then spent 5 years as GM & Head Pro at Portage before taking on the new challenge of Executive Director of the PGA of Manitoba in the fall of 2022.
In the fall of 2023 I also became the account manager for Sunice & Bobby Jones throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan & NW Ontario. We have taken the PGA of Manitoba office "mobile" this summer and will work from various locations on the road.
While my teaching and instructional time is limited, I spend 3 weeks teaching introductory ladies clinics at the Southside Golf Course just outside of Winnipeg. They have over 700 women in their ladies league program and we run 25 to 30 clinics in the month of May to assist any ladies who may want a refresher or assistance in one area of the game or another!
