Ed Clarkson
About
Ed Clarkson is a Class “A” member of the PGA of Canada and an experienced private club leader with a track record of driving operational performance, building high-performing teams, and enhancing the member experience.
He currently serves as Director of Golf at Deer Ridge Golf Club, where he leads a multi-department operation including golf services, outside operations, and locker room services for a 400-member equity club. In this role, Ed oversees a team of more than 40 staff and manages a significant operating budget, with a focus on culture, accountability, and service excellence.
Under his leadership, Deer Ridge has achieved substantial growth in golf shop revenue while improving staff engagement and member satisfaction across all areas of the operation.
Prior to Deer Ridge, Ed served as Director of Golf at Coppinwood Golf Club, where he led a large team and significantly increased retail performance while working closely with ownership on operational planning and the overall member experience.
Ed’s background includes leadership roles at some of Canada’s most respected private clubs, including The National Golf Club of Canada and St. George’s Golf and Country Club, where he developed a strong foundation in private club standards, governance, and culture.
In addition to his golf operations leadership, Ed has gained broader club management experience through ClubLink, where he held a combined Director of Operations and General Manager role, providing exposure to food and beverage, facilities, and full-club operations.
He is a graduate with distinction from Humber College and also holds a Health Sciences diploma from Fanshawe College. Ed is the recipient of both the Brian Shaw Scholarship and the Golf Town Scholarship.
