Matt returned to Canada in 1990 after almost four years as an English teacher for Toyota in Tokyo Japan. His golf career began in Whistler where began coaching and clubfitting exclusively in 1992.
In 1994, Matt moved to the Big Sky Golf & CC when it opened one of Western Canada's first destination Golf Academy's where he became Director in 2005. In the year 2000 Big Sky was rated as Canada's Top Academy by Golf Ranking Magazine.
Matt moved to North Vancouver and was a part of opening the Green Room Golf Performance Centre merging with Jeffersports in 2007. In 2010 the Green Room obtained the Master Rights for Golftec and converted the Green Room into Canada's first Golftec facility. "As Golftec, we will be helping golfers across Canada improve through fact-based diagnosis, recurring coaching, video practice, advanced retention tools, and properly fitted clubs".
