Seeding Format Update |
|
For 2026, a revised seeding structure has been introduced, designed to maintain the integrity of the Breenie Cup standings while creating a more balanced and competitive draw that rewards performance. Match Play registrants will first be seeded based on the previous year’s Breenie Cup standings. The field will then be divided into four pods using a snake draft method. A blind draw within each pod will determine first-round matchups. If the field size results in byes, they will be awarded to the highest-seeded players in order of ranking (e.g., if one bye is required, it will be awarded to the 1st seed; if two byes are required, they will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd seeds, etc.). Example (32-player field): They are then divided into four pods using a snake format:
A blind draw is then conducted within each pod to determine first-round matchups. This approach is intended to reward performance while introducing greater balance and unpredictability, ensuring a competitive field where players must earn their way through each round. |
