Bill Wogden
PGA of Ontario Hall of Fame Class of 2025
Born: August 19, 1958 in Toronto, Ontario
Bill played multiple sports growing up and his early success on the golf course included two Junior Club Championships and two Men’s Club Championships at Muskoka Sands Golf Club. At Humber College, Bill graduated in Business Administration with a minor in Golf Management. While at college, Bill was a member of the Ontario College Athletic Association (OCAA) gold medal winning golf team in 1978.
Joining the PGA of Ontario in 1979, Bill’s first Assistant Professional role was at South Muskoka Curling and Golf Club in Bracebridge with Head Professional Ron Webb.
Bill was hired by Professional, Ben Kern (PGA of Ontario Hall of Fame Charter Class), to join the staff at The National Golf Club of Canada in Woodbridge. With Ben’s mentorship, Bill enjoyed a 10-year stay (1981-1990) and developed into a top player. During this time, Bill served four years on the PGA of Ontario Assistants' Committee serving two years as Treasurer and two years as President.
Royal Woodbine Golf Club hired Bill to be their inaugural Head Professional when the course opened in the fall of 1990.
In 1992, Bill moved to the Barrie Country Club as the Head Professional where he remained for 27 years until his retirement at the end of 2018. Bill and the Barrie CC hosted the PGA of Ontario Zone Championship 12 times, including 10 years in a row from 2003-2012. Bill was actively involved with the local junior golf tour and served on multiple PGA of Ontario Committees.
In retirement, Bill coaches the Men’s and Women’s golf teams at Georgian College, and continues to volunteer with the local junior golf tour.

Tournament Play:
Winner of 20+ PGA of Ontario Tournaments including individual winners in the Regular Division, Senior Division, and Assistant Pro competitions. Team wins include the Head Pro – Assistant Pro (once as HP, once as AP), two Pro-Pro Better Balls, and three Assistant Pro Better Balls. Bill represented Ontario six times in the Ontario- Quebec matches.
