Get to know Ethan Hunt, Apprentice Professional at The Ontario Golf Academy (OGA) at Whistle Bear Golf Club. From Kelowna Golf & Country Club in British Columbia, where golf was just a summer hobby and hockey was the main focus, to now leading competitive junior programs as a PGA of Ontario professional — Hunt is forever grateful he chose to pivot and pursue golf, because he truly believes he has found his “why.” 

“Helping kids see their potential, try something new, and surprise themselves — that’s my why.  And although it might look tiring or require long hours, it doesn’t feel like it.” 

Last fall, Hunt was named the 2024 PGA of Ontario Apprentice Professional of the Year, and much to his surprise, was also honoured as the PGA of Canada Moe Norman Apprentice Professional of the Year. Having grown up watching Moe Norman YouTube videos with the friend who first introduced him to golf, the national recognition held deep personal meaning.

In this week’s spotlight video, Ethan reflects on the lessons learned through hockey & golf — and discusses how coaching and bringing joy to others continues to shape his path.
