The PGA Head Professional Championship of Canada presented by Callaway Golf and supported by G&G Brands is slated for this week near Cancun, Mexico, where 53 of the top professionals in the country will soak in the rays at Iberostar Playa Paraiso while competing for the Head Professional of Canada crown.

Amaya Athill fondly remembers competing in a regional competition in St. Kitts as a junior golfer. Antigua, her home country, defeated their longstanding sporting rival at the adult, senior, and junior levels. For Athill, the highlight of the competition wasn’t the victory; but the celebration that followed.

The 59-year-old from Victoria began his campaign for a sixth PGA Seniors’ Championship of Canada title with a bogey-free opening-round 6-under-par 65 at Carleton Golf and Yacht Club in Ottawa.
