Award Procedure & Process

Committee:

The Awards Committee will be comprised of two (2) Board Members and the past two years' award winners. 

Members of the Awards Committee cannot be nominated and can only nominate a member outside their voting categories.

Awards Recognized:

The following awards are recognized. Please click on each individual award to view its criteria.

  1. Apprentice Professional of the Year
  2. Class "A" Assistant Professional of the Year
  3. Club Professional of the Year
  4. CoachNow Coach of the Year
  5. Executive Professional of the Year
  6. Junior Leader of the Year
  7. Players of the Year
  8. Professional Development Award
  9. Retailer of the Year
  10. Teacher of the Year

The Nomination Process

Based on the following procedures:

  • Nominations for all awards will be accepted during the designated nomination period.
  • Individual award nominations may be submitted by any PGA Professional, an external source, or through self-nomination.
  • All nominations will be reviewed by PGA of Ontario staff to ensure eligibility requirements are met.
  • As part of the nomination process, nominators must provide a recommendation supporting the nominee’s application.
  • Members who choose to self-nominate must submit a recommendation letter from an external source.
  • Nominees who do not meet the eligibility requirements will be notified and advised of any outstanding requirements needed to qualify.
  • Completed application packages must be submitted by September 7, 2026. Applications not received by this deadline will not be considered eligible for the award.

Final Selection

The Awards Committee will evaluate the completed packages based on voting category. 

  • Applications will be reviewed by the Awards Committee based on the criteria for each award.
  • Committee members will independently rank nominees within their voting category.
  • Three finalists and one recipient in each award category will be recognized and celebrated this fall.

Communication

  • Finalists for each award will be announced on social media by the Zone Office.
  • Award recipients will be revealed and celebrated on November 4, 2026.
  • PGA of Ontario winners are automatically put forward for the National Award through the PGA of Canada Award Program.
