Award Procedure & Process

Committee:

The Awards Committee will be comprised of two (2) Board Members and the past two years' award winners. 

Members of the Awards Committee cannot be nominated and may only submit nominations for categories in which they do not vote. Each committee member is assigned specific voting categories—such as Apprentice Professional of the Year, Club Professional of the Year, Teacher of the Year, and others—and may submit nominations only in categories outside their assigned areas.

The Nomination Process

Based on the following procedures:

  • Nominations for all awards will be accepted during the designated nomination period.
  • Individual award nominations may be submitted by any PGA Professional, peers, students, industry supporters, members of the golf community, or the nominees themselves (self-nomination).
  • All nominations will be reviewed by PGA of Ontario staff to ensure eligibility requirements are met.
  • As part of the nomination process, nominators must provide a recommendation letter supporting the nominee’s application.
  • Members who choose to self-nominate must submit a recommendation letter from an external source.
  • Nominees who do not meet the eligibility requirements will be notified and advised of any outstanding requirements needed to qualify.
  • Completed application packages must be submitted by September 7, 2026. Applications not received by this deadline will not be considered.

Final Selection

The Awards Committee will be divided into groups (voting categories) and assigned packages to evaluate. 

  • Committee members will independently rank nominees they have been assigned.
  • Three finalists and one recipient in each award category will be recognized and celebrated this fall.

Communication

  • Finalists for each award will be announced by the Zone Office.
  • Award recipients will be revealed and celebrated on November 4, 2026.
  • PGA of Ontario award recipients are automatically put forward for a National Award through the PGA of Canada Award Program.

  • Submit a Nomination - 5 Points
  • Nominated for an Award - 5 Points
    • The nominator and nominee will receive PRP points once the nominee completes and submits their package for consideration.
  • Ontario Zone Award Recipient- 10 Points
  • National Award Recipient- 15 Points
