PGA of Ontario is now accepting 2020 Award Nominations

The PGA of Ontario Award Program recognizes outstanding members for their achievements throughout the season and their career, as well as for their contributions to the Association and their impact on the game of Golf.

Ten award recipients are named each year, with nine of those awards dependent on peer nomination. These nominations are then considered by the PGA of Ontario Awards Committee, who narrow the field to a list of finalists.

PGA of Ontario winners are automatically put forward for a National Award through the PGA of Canada Award Program.

The PGA of Ontario will begin accepting 2020 nominations for the following categories effective immediately.

• Club Professional of the Year Award
• Executive Professional of the Year Award
• Teacher of the Year Award
• Junior Leader of the Year Award
• Retailer of the Year Award
• Apprentice Professional of the Year Award
• Coach of the Year Award

Club Professional of the Year Award
Award Guidelines:  

• Demonstrates outstanding qualities of leadership
• Demonstrates outstanding management
• Maintain a substantial record of service to the Association and the game of golf.
• Well-regarded as a role model to other PGA of Ontario Golf Professionals.

Executive Professional of the Year Award
Award Guidelines:  

• Demonstrates outstanding qualities of leadership
• Demonstrates outstanding management
• Maintain a substantial record of service to the Association and the game of golf.
• Well-regarded as a role model to other PGA of Ontario Executive Professionals.

Teacher of the Year Award
Award Guidelines:    

• Recognized as an outstanding teacher of golf among the ranks of the PGA of Ontario membership.
• Initiation and/or implementation of extraordinary, innovative and/or special teaching programs.
• Publication of articles, books, magazines, etc.

Junior Leader of the Year Award
Award Guidelines: 

• Involved in the promotion and development of junior golf at the club level.
• Supports Zone & National junior golf programs.
• Proven awareness and interest in junior development, and ability to provide opportunities for juniors to learn and play golf.
• Recognized as someone with outstanding character.

Retailer of the Year Award
Award Guidelines:   

• Demonstrates skills in planning and promotion of sales by presenting products to his/her market on a timely basis, and through the use of specialized merchandising techniques that include display and advertising.

Apprentice Professional of the Year Award
Award Guidelines:   

• Demonstrates outstanding qualities of leadership
• Well-regarded as a role model to other PGA of Ontario Apprentice Professionals.
• Must be an Apprentice Professional at the start of the year.

Coach of the Year Award
Award Guidelines: 

• Recognized as an outstanding coach among the ranks of the PGA of Ontario membership.

Professional Development of the Year Award

Award Guidelines:

• Demonstrates outstanding qualities of leadership
• Well-regarded as a role model to other PGA of Ontario Class "A" Professional working at golf courses.
• Class "A" Professional working in a pro shop at golf course (Must have begun the 2020 season as a Class "A" Professional)

Player of the Year Award
Award Guidelines:

• The PGA of Ontario Player of the Year Award will be awarded to the member who attains the most Player of the Year points based on their season's performance.
